In the charming green hills of Upstate New York, there is a small, farmer-owned agribusiness committed to producing organic, high-quality full-fat, and cultured dairy foods: Kriemhild Dairy Farms. Kriemhild’s journey began with a passion for pasture-raised animals and a dedication to crafting the finest dairy products from grass-fed herds.
Kriemhild Dairy Farms is intimately connected with Red Gate Farm, one of their primary grass-fed milk suppliers. Bruce and Nancy Rivington are farmers who own Kriemhild and operate Red Gate Farm. One of the most remarkable qualities of the Rivington family is that they remain loyal to ethical farming practices. When the Rivingtons moved from Ontario, Canada to New York, they set out on a mission to prioritize grazing and seasonal dairying for the well-being of both their herd and consumers. In 2000, they purchased Red Gate Farm in Hamilton, paving the way for the birth of Kriemhild Dairy nearly a decade later.
The name "Kriemhild'' holds historical significance, stemming from the original herd of Holstein-Friesian cattle born and raised in the United States, which happened to be just a few miles from the Kriemhild creamery. This herd of cows achieved such extraordinary milk production from grass-fed grazing nearly a century ago, inspiring the Rivington’s commitment to tradition and excellence.
At Kriemhild Dairy Farms, they believe that animals raised on pasture thrive and result in healthier products for consumers. Their farming practices reflect this belief, with cows enjoying the lush pastures and fresh air of Upstate New York. With around 300 cows from local farms contributing nutrient-rich grass-fed milk, they ensure that every product is crafted with care.
Their loyalty to quality extends beyond their farming practices to every aspect of the business. The Kriemhild Kupboard, a self-serve store in Hamilton, NY, is open daily from dawn to dusk. Visitors are invited to explore various dairy products alongside other goodies from Central New York farms.
For those unable to visit in person, they have an online store, which offers the convenience of doorstep delivery, ensuring that products are easily accessible.
